Everything runs in your browser. The microphone audio never leaves the page and nothing you type is sent to us.

The microphone

Tone detection runs entirely on your machine and no audio is transmitted, recorded or stored. Declining the permission switches the decoder off and it will not ask again until you turn it back on.

What is stored

Learning progress is kept in your browser unless you sign in and choose to sync it, which is the whole point of syncing it. Nothing you translate is sent anywhere.

Questions

Does the microphone decoder send my audio anywhere?

No. The tone detection runs in your browser and no audio leaves the page. If you refuse the microphone permission the decoder stays off and does not ask again — a page that re-prompts on every render is one browsers eventually block outright.

Do I need an account?

No. Translating, the practice key, the microphone decoder, the light output and the whole reference all run in your browser with no account and no limit. An account exists for two things: syncing your learning progress, and sending a message to a paired device.
